Two is Farzad Golpaygani's 2nd album, though due some problems
with "Ershad!" he couldn't release it officially, you can visit
his website http://www.farzadonline.com and buy the album
online. And now here we have a review after listening bunch of
times to the tunes. First of all I want to say all of this
review is my personal idea about this album and there's no
bashings in here. So don't flame me! (Winks!)
The album contains 11 tracks and like farzad's previous album
(entitled ONE as some of you might know) all the tracks has
specific numbers instead of names. Actually I am not a big fan
of this kind of naming but this is just his style, farzad
doesn't like to have names for his tracks, so the listener
doesn't get a biased feeling toward the name of the song. So we
must live
with that.
In comparison to his last album, "One" there's less elements of
Persian music, (I am not a big fan of using Persian instruments
with rock music instruments. so I am kind of glad to hearing
less and less Persian elements in this album) though eastern
themes are present and they're quite tasteful, technical-wise,
Farzad rips in this album, you can hear his guitar playing
ability in lots of moments of the album, however, I think in
some places he plays a little bit sloppy, but I'm ok with that.
As a guitarist myself I always like to push myself ahead and
trying to play harder stuff, and I think that's the direction
that farzad took too. So you have a balance between more
melodic/fusion type tunes and more shreddy tunes with lots of
influence from players like Yngwie J. Malmsteen (Specially in
track number7) |
